Realm of Prosperity is a personal finance blog written with a young, yet very mature, voice that serves as a medium to connect the lively reckless nature of the younger generation with the responsible attitude that financial stability requires.
Here, you will find posts regarding all topics of personal finance but there is emphasis on debt reduction, money management, college finance, and smart spending. There are many instances where I write with psychological and philosophical perspectives to provide a wider scope of understanding instead of talking strict finances.
Although many of the posts and articles may seem to be targeted towards young adults, they are in fact applicable to everyone of all ages because money and personal finance affect all aspects of everyone’s lives.
Why Call the Blog “Realm of Prosperity”?
Prosperity is all about attaining high status, high position, and wealth. It is the result of hard work, perseverance, and achievements. A lottery ticket winner is not prosperous, but simply fortunate. Like everyone in this world, I am searching for a place of success and wealth. Thus, this blog is the reflection of my progressive struggle to enter this realm of prosperity.
About Me
My name is Simon Zhen and I currently reside in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. I’m a college graduate as of May 2009 with a B.S. in Health Science. My financial situation coming out of college wasn’t as bad as many others. With just a little less than $9000 in loans and about $300 in credit card debt, I didn’t dig myself a big hole during school.
Because I was brought up by parents who rarely spent much money on unnecessary things, their attitude towards money has been instilled in me. So, I am quite able to resist splurging on toys that I can live without. I do not take money from my parents unless it was from holidays/birthdays or for tuition. I guess I’m trying hard not to be one of the typical spoiled young adults in America who do not see the value of a dollar. I’d prefer to be able to truthfully say that “I earned what I have today”.
