Damage to Wallet Done By Buying Class Materials
- 2 Comment

This semester’s classes have been a breeze so far (and also very fun since I’m in a EMT concentration). Although classes have been okay, the class materials are dealing a heavy blow to my wallet or should I say, credit card. I’ve asked previous students of the classes and they weren’t required to purchase most of the text needed.
I, on the other hand, have to purchase all the books and materials for all but one class. I borrowed two books from a previous student – a tip I mentioned for getting cheaper textbooks. Even after that, this semester seems to be the most expensive yet in the four years I’ve been in college.
Let’s see how much I spent:
- CPR Face Mask – $5
- Stethoscope – $35
- Watch (with a second hand.. GRR!) – $40.02
- WMD/Terrorism text – $91.32
- HAZMAT text – $39
- EMS Systems text – $65
- Total: $275.34
Time to find a way to pay the credit card bill next month! Maybe that Chinese New Year money might come in handy right about now.

Sorry about the expensive semester needs. For the short-term, hopefully your Chinese New Year money can recoup some of the money drain (I still have my red envelope/money but I guess I should be putting it to use, already, right? Hehe).
In general, though, I think your education is a great investment – having training as an EMT will be beneficial on many levels, including financial : ).
Have a great semester!

It’s so funny, because a few months ago I was in your same shoes. I’m glad to hear your last semester is going well. So what are your plans after graduation?
