Dumbest Reason For Getting A Credit Card
We are exposed to many forms of making use of our credit. Mortgages, credit cards, student loans, car loans and etc. are all methods that we acquire debt. We borrow this money mostly for essential things such as a house, car, and an education. Sadly, the majority of consumers borrow for luxury items and the credit card is the easiest route to bad debt. Even worse is the bad decision process in getting a credit card.
“I love the design!”
Oh boy, the Hello Kitty Visa Card is so cute! The kitten is so adorable. Having U.S. flag on my card is a symbol of my patriotism and love for my country.
After hearing those statements I’d love to smack these people right across the face. Seriously, what does the appearance of a credit card have anything to do with its function? It will still lead to debt. Capital One’s design-your-card marketing campaign has made a piece of plastic into a fashion statement to hide their true intent: taking your money.

What a person should look for in a credit card is no annual fee, low APR, and rewards/cashback. Stick to the fundamentals and stay away from the exotic perks.

Unfortunately, for some ladies, that reason itself holds true (“Aww that’s so cute”)
I know some friends who just buy stuff just because it’s cute (cute bottle when buying a drink, etc). Crazy, eh?

Ouch – I fell for this ploy when I was in college. Then again I had no clue how to handle finances then and thought that having that cool USA Rugby credit card would help me somehow. I was wrong and did manage to learn from my mistake.
I do agree that the ‘customize your cute card’ is getting out of hand and is a really bad reason to pick up a credit card though.
